Sailor Mercury

Sailor Mercury's civilian persona and current incarnation is Ami Mizuno. She is the second Senshi who Luna recruits in the manga and one of the four Inner Sailor Guardians. She is introverted and has a difficult time forming friendships with others in her everyday life. She frequently prefers to spend her free time alone reading and studying. This led other girls to mistakenly conclude that she is snobbish and haughty, when in fact the opposite is true.

Ami was a shy girl who struggled to make friends before she met Usagi and the other Sailor Senshi. She preferred to read books and study by herself. As a result of her intelligence—she consistently scored highly on national exams—many of her peers thought she was snooty and conceited. But as Ami and Usagi became closer, people's perspectives started to shift.

Ami is shown as a sweet, kind, polite, and devoted young woman who is nevertheless a little insecure. Sailor Mercury first relies on the advice of her mother, friends, and teachers. She gets stronger and more self-assured as the series goes on. Mathematics is her favorite subject; she does not have a least favorite. She also enjoys pop culture and romantic novels, but she's embarrassed to admit it. She is computer savvy.
