Sawako Kuronuma

The main character of the television series Kimi ni Todoke is Sawako Kuronuma. She is a high school student looking for friendship, but finding one has been challenging due to her likeness to Sadako from the horror movie The Ring. She was unusually modest and had poor communication skills, thus she was unable to clear up misinformation. She was shunned by her peers as a result, and she developed social awkwardness. She still strives hard in whatever she does and is a pure, optimistic, and compassionate person.

Sawako first appears to be reserved and distant, similar to a spooky horror movie character. She has a propensity to overthink situations and take remarks seriously. Sawako is actually a good person who sincerely wants to connect with people. She is incredibly diligent and disciplined, comes in third in her high school class, and ultimately graduates as the class valedictorian. However, she struggles socially.

Sawako Kuronuma is so adept at running and jumping that she gives the impression that she is teleporting. This is the only time that stated skill is mentioned in the entire series, and it is revealed during a soccer match during a sports festival during her first year. Sawako is implied to exercise every weekend while performing her neighborhood cleanliness duties. Sawako excels in the kitchen and frequently prepares meals for friends and family, who frequently express their happiness and want additional servings. No wonder why she is one of the best shy girl character in anime.
