Ranking first on the list of the largest South Korean companies is the Samsung Group, a South Korean global industrial corporation that has its headquarters in Samsung Town, Seoul, South Korea. The Samsung Group is the largest chaebol (business conglomerate) in South Korea. It is comprised of an enormous number of related enterprises, the majority of which are united under the Samsung name.
Samsung was established in 1938 by Lee Byung-Chul. Over the course of the subsequent 30 years, the company branched out into several different industries, including food manufacturing, textiles, insurance, securities, and retail. In the late 1960s, Samsung joined the electronics business, and in the mid-1970s, it entered the construction and shipbuilding industries. These three industries have become the primary drivers of Samsung's later expansion.
Samsung is made up of around 80 firms. The company is a leading manufacturer of consumer and industrial electronics, including appliances, digital media devices, semiconductors, memory chips, and integrated systems. Construction, consumer electronics, financial services, shipbuilding, and medical services are among its businesses. Today, Samsung has a significant influence on South Korean economic growth, politics, media, and culture.
