Sling TV
Sling TV is an American online television service operated by Sling TV LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dish Network. Launched on January 5, 2015, at the Consumer Electronics Show, a virtual multichannel video programming distributor that aims to add video-on-demand subscription services to cord cutters, offering a selection of channels Mainstream cable TV and OTT-derived services can be streamed via smart TVs, apps, and digital media players. The service was available in the United States and Puerto Rico in 2015.
Sling TV is led by Erik Carlson, who is also the President and COO of Dish Network. The service's predecessor, the ethnic television service DishWorld, was also placed under the umbrella of Sling TV LLC and renamed Sling International. Following an invite-only beta launch of the service beginning in January of that year, Sling TV officially launched on February 9, 2015. By August 2021, the service had reached a total 2.44 million subscribers. As of September 2021, Sling TV has reached 2,556 million subscribers.
