Smew Duck

The Smew Duck is renowned for its black and white plumage. This duck is one of the merganser species that can be found in North America, Europe, and Asia. They are regarded as one of the most attractive ducks in the entire world. The male smew duck has a white body with dramatic black markings on its head, back, and breast. The eyes are black, and the wings are dark with significant white spots. The females have a chestnut-colored head, a white neck, and dark brown eyes. While the rest of the body is dark grey, the breast is light gray. Gray feet are present in both sexes.

The major source of food for smew ducks is fish, which they dive for in freshwater bodies of water like lakes and rivers. In addition, they eat snails, crabs, and seeds from plants. It nests in tree holes, such as old woodpecker nests. It is a shy bird and flushes easily when disturbed.
