White-Headed duck

The Beautiful White-Headed duck is one of the rarest water birds in the world. Ducks measure about 19 inches or 45 centimeters long on average. The males differ from the females by being smaller, having a magnificent white head, having strong blue bills, and having a stiff tail. The females have a head, body, and bill that are all darker shades of brown.

The white-headed ducks prefer deep marshes with open water as well as shallow areas. The species is regarded as being endangered because of the loss, degradation, and threat of hunting that have historically led to a wide range of population declines in the species' natural habitat. The chance of the ducks going extinct is extremely high. Effective wetlands conservation and hunting regulation are required to maintain the White-headed Duck population.
