Syndicated
Syndicated ranks 4th in the list of best dine-in movie theaters in NYC. There's no gleaming 1930s-style marquee beckoning you through the doors of Syndicated, a cinema-bar-restaurant hybrid tucked away in a barely discernible former warehouse on Bogart Street. Instead, Art Deco touches can be found in the main dining room, which has 70 seats and is decorated with geometric sconces, high-vaulted ceilings, and projector screens playing muted classic movies. A four-sided marble-topped bar anchors the space, and it's packed with moviegoers sipping craft cocktails before seeing throwback screenings of Wayne's World and Do the Right Thing.
Popcorn-elevating potables by bar manager Kenneth Vanhooser (Piora) take their cues from the big screen, of course. Redrum ($13), a stiff-sipping nod to The Shining, is a Jungle Bird riff made with two rums (dark Blackwell and light Brugal Aejo), Aperol, artichokey Cynar, and lemon. Smoke lovers should order the tableside-poured Airplane III ($12), which combines potent Laphroaig 10 with sweet pisco, nutty falernum, and floral crème de violette, while spice fans should order the Lawnmower Man ($13), which combines vodka and cachaça with fiery chili syrup tempered by kale and carrot juices.
