  3. Metrograph ranks 3rd in the list of best dine-in movie theaters in NYC. Metrograph is the ultimate destination for prestigious film and content enthusiasts. 4. Syndicated ranks 4th in the list of best dine-in movie theaters in NYC. There's no gleaming 1930s-style marquee beckoning you through the doors of Syndicated, a cinema-bar-restaurant hybrid tucked away in a barely discernible former warehouse on Bogart Street. Instead, Art Deco touches can be found in the main dining room, which has 70 seats and is decorated with geometric sconces, high-vaulted ceilings, and projector screens playing muted classic movies. A four-sided marble-topped bar anchors the space, and it's packed with moviegoers sipping craft cocktails before seeing throwback screenings of Wayne's World and Do the Right Thing.

Popcorn-elevating potables by bar manager Kenneth Vanhooser (Piora) take their cues from the big screen, of course. Redrum ($13), a stiff-sipping nod to The Shining, is a Jungle Bird riff made with two rums (dark Blackwell and light Brugal Aejo), Aperol, artichokey Cynar, and lemon. Smoke lovers should order the tableside-poured Airplane III ($12), which combines potent Laphroaig 10 with sweet pisco, nutty falernum, and floral crème de violette, while spice fans should order the Lawnmower Man ($13), which combines vodka and cachaça with fiery chili syrup tempered by kale and carrot juices.

  5. Nitehawk Cinema, located in Brooklyn, New York City, is a dine-in independent movie theater. It has two locations in the Williamsburg and Park Slope neighborhoods. The theater, which serves a menu of food and drinks that can be ordered and consumed while patrons watch movies, was the first liquor-licensed movie theater in the state of New York, as well as the first in New York City to offer table service. This Brooklyn venue shows new indie films as well as a robust retro program. Each theater has a full-service restaurant, and the downstairs Lo-Res bar is open late. In 2011, Nitehawk overturned a Prohibition-era state liquor law that prohibited the sale of alcoholic beverages in theaters, becoming New York's first dine-in theater.

Nitehawk does not screen advertisements during its preshow, instead showing a montage of clips that are customized for each film; for instance, the preshow for Nitehawk's screenings of The Favourite included clips from Olivia Colman's comedic work and Yorgos Lanthimos' short films. In addition to its standard menu, Nitehawk offers a special menu for brunch screenings, and limited-time menu items inspired by the current slate of films it is screening.
