Széchenyi István University
Széchenyi István University (SZE) is a Hungarian university with campuses in Gyr and Mosonmagyaróvár. In 1968, the university was founded. It has a strong reputation in electrical and mechanical engineering, as well as a cooperation with Audi, a German automobile manufacturer. The university has nine faculties and four doctoral programs that provide education.
The new architectural studio launched in May 2008. It was repurposed from a former transformation facility. The call for tender to renovate public facilities was won by Széchényi István University. The university is working on a number of projects, including AUTOPOLIS: The construction of a new building will increase the university's capacity and will be used for research and development. A footbridge will be relocated as part of this project, and two multi-story parking garages will be constructed. It is expected that the project will be completed in 2011.
In Gyr and at the university, there are a variety of entertainment options. Every year, a Széchenyi-week is held, to which notable Hungarians (authors, comedians, and others) are invited. Sporting activities are available at the university (rowing, soccer, swimming etc.). During Széchenyi-week, the Széchenyi race takes place. At the parking lot in front of the campus, alternative-powered vehicles compete against one another.
