University of Debrecen
The University of Debrecen is a Hungarian university in Debrecen. It is Hungary's oldest continually operational higher education institution (since 1538 and among the Best-Known Universities in Hungary). The university features a well-established English language program for overseas students, particularly in the medical profession, which began in 1986 and is still going strong. The university has around 6000 international students enrolled. Five past pupils received technical Academy Awards (Oscars) until 2014.
In addition, the institution has a Basic Medicine campus in Geochang County, South Korea.
The University of Debrecen's library is Hungary's largest university library and one of the country's two national libraries (the other being Budapest's National Széchényi Library). The library's record collection exceeds 6 million. The institution is home to Hungary's largest computing cluster (203 TFlop/s), dubbed "Leo" (after Leo Szilard), which is ranked 370th in the world's Top500 supercomputers as of 2015. In 2022, a new supercluster will be installed.
