Taberna Española
The Taberna Española (Spanish Tavern) first opened its doors in 1985 and has continued to grow in popularity and visitors since then. Paella is the house specialty, with eight types to choose from and an annual large paella event that feeds 800 people during a charity telethon. Empty bottles and seashell mobiles dangle from the Taberna's ceiling, while the walls are adorned with proverbs from over the world and quotations by renowned people, from Benjamin Franklin to Molière. The Taberna is a premier Spanish food venue in the Paraguayan capital because of its homey, welcoming atmosphere.
In Paraguay, this restaurant is a taste of Spain. The lively atmosphere of this 'food museum,' complete with dangling bottles, cooking equipment, and bells, is simply the setting for tasty tapas and paella.
