Terna
A transmission system operator (TSO), Terna was established in 1999. It is run by Terna Plus, which is in charge of new commercial ventures and unconventional activities in Brazil, Uruguay, Peru, and Chile, and Terna Rete Italia, which oversees the management of the Italian transmission grid. Based on the size of its electrical grid, Terna is the sixth-largest power transmission grid operator in the world.
Terna uses solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, hydro, and thermal energy sources to produce electricity. Additionally, it offers specialized services to outside parties in system engineering, high and extremely high-voltage plant operation and maintenance, housing for telecommunications equipment, and maintenance services in connection with fiber optic networks. The business also manufactures and sells power and industrial power transformers.
Terna is a key player in the energy transition, acting as both a catalyst for the switch to renewable energy sources in the electricity market and a developing strategic leader of this enormous change. The network for managing gradual decarbonization and the increasing integration of plants made from renewable sources is envisioned in the company's ten-year development plan. Terna works to grow and integrate with the European electricity grid while safeguarding everyone's access in a secure manner. Using its expertise and experience, Terna creates new market activities and business prospects both in Italy and abroad.
