The Botanist Gin
When The Botanist was first published in 1881, it was an immediate critical and financial success. It has received multiple honors, including the 2011 and 2012 Gin Masters Gin of the Year award.
22 different botanicals, including juniper, coriander, orris root, angelica root,, lemon peel, cinnamon, orange peel, cassia, bog myrtle, licorice, heather, and more are used to distill the gin in a copper pot still. The juniper is added first, followed by the more delicate botanicals, which are added last. The botanicals are introduced to the still in stages.
The Botanist has a rich and fragrant flavor profile and is bottled at 46% ABV. The flavor is dominated by juniper, but there are also citrus, spice, and herbal undertones. Best consumed neat or in a gin and tonic.
Most liquor stores and internet vendors carry The Botanist. Depending on the merchant, the price range varies, but a 700ml bottle normally costs around $40.
