The Vietnam War History

One of Vietnam's top attractions for travellers is its history. Visitors can learn about the Vietnam War and other historical events at several of the nation's educational tourist destinations. You can visit the emotional war museum and the royal palace in Saigon first. To gain a firsthand account of what the battle was like for many soldiers, visit the Cu Chi war tunnels and view the old military aircraft strewn about the city. War memorials may be seen all across the city, and in Hanoi, you can even visit Ho Chi Minh's actual final resting site. Whether you enjoy history or not, there is little doubt that even just being in Vietnam will teach you a few things.

In Vietnam, there are many prisons set up by the US and France to arrest people who participated in the war. Hoa Lo Prison illustrates the horrors that Vietnamese inmates had to endure at the hands of their French jailers and is housed in a former French prison that has been transformed into a museum honouring the Vietnamese resistance to colonialism. The American pows who were interned here have a single chamber dedicated to them, but their image of them is carefully airbrushed to show the Vietnamese in the most sympathetic light. Veterans of the Vietnam War as well as those interested in military history should visit all of these locations.
