Those Who Can...Teach: Celebrating Teachers Who Make a Difference
Our Times: An Illustrated History of the Twentieth Century was edited in chief by Lorraine Glennon, a Brooklyn-based editor and writer. Mary K. Mohler is the president's wife at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, as well as the creator and director of Seminary Wives Institute, an educational program for student wives at Southern Seminary and Boyce College.
A single teacher's talent and dedication made a significant difference in the lives of many successful people. Former pupils sometimes vividly recall a teacher's casually brilliant comment that elicited an instant "aha!" response, and they are sometimes influenced by a teacher's ardent devotion to professional duty. A great teacher's approaches are as varied and unique as the teachers themselves, but the end product - inspired teaching - is a gift that lasts a lifetime. "Those Who Can...Teach", one of the best books on teaching, brings together personal reminiscences about talented educators from a diverse group of individuals, including authors, celebrities, business executives, religious figures, politicians, and, of course, teachers. Some are funny, while others are irreverent, tender, and passionately polemical. Many samples from literature, personal letters, and movies are included in the book, which was based on interviews done by the editors.
