To Nung Lake
About 10 kilometers separate Pleiku Town from To Nung Lake. With its emerald-like green, crystal-clear water, To Nung Lake is located in the heart of the highlands' red soil region. The lake is perched atop a dormant volcano. With the lush flora and the vibrant insects around the lake, the scene is breathtaking. One can see the region, including the Bien Ho Tea processing farm, Pleiku town, and Kon Tum town, from the lake's side. The lake is made even more stunning by the surrounding legendary Ham Rong Mountain.
Visit a number of Rong homes to meet friendly highland residents. The Pleiku highland region takes great pride in Nung Lake. An extinct volcano that had been dormant for millions of years was located near Nung Lake. The lake is oval in shape and has an area of 230 hectares. Visitors may witness schools of fish swimming in the lake all year round because the lake is always filled with crystal-clear blue water. The lake, which has a depth of 20 to 40 meters, acts as a natural reservoir for fresh water. For local consumption, the local freshwater fishing business harvests hundreds of tons of fish.
The scenery by the lake is distinctive. Visitors have the best view of the stunning natural surroundings at dawn when they may move their heads to take in as much of the distant primitive forests' greenery as they can, while the background music is provided by birds singing in low bushes nearby the surrounding low hilly bushes. The peacefulness of the primitive world is unaltered. Several early sailing boats sailing on the lake that is shrouded in fog and mist add to the romantic scenery. Many tourists have referred to To Nung Lake as the pearl of the Pleiku in particular and the Central Highlands in general in light of this scenery.
