Tower Bridge London
Tower Bridge of London is a combination of suspension bridges and a take-off bridge across the River Thames in London, the capital of the United Kingdom. The bridge was completed in 1894, located adjacent to the Tower of London, becoming a famous symbol of the UK. This is also the last bridge down the Thames within the city limits. It is often confused with London Bridge located not far away.
This bridge took eight years, five major contractors and the relentless labor of 432 construction workers every day to build Tower Bridge. The bridge has two towers, in Victorian Gothic style. They are connected with two walkways that are constructed so they can resist horizontal forces from suspended parts of the bridge. The base of each tower holds machines that lift two parts of the bridge so the bridge can allow the passing of river traffic beneath it.
