Training Battle
Orlando Oxford, popularly called the Duke of Oxford, is the hero in 2021's The King's Man. Actor Ralph Fiennes portrays this character. Oxford founded the Kingsman spy agency on his own.
While Orlando has pledged to keep his son (Conrad) out of war and battle, he permits Shola to indulge him in a training battle. Shola served for The Duke of Oxford and became one of the original Kingsmen, accompanying Conrad Oxford and Polly Wilkins on their 1916 expedition.
On the lawn, the two engage in a training battle with knifes, soaking their wood blades in paint to indicate when they have struck a hit. Conrad believes he has won the skirmish, only to find Shola has delivered a lethal blow. Polly then fires the knife from a distance out of Shola's grasp. Although the battle is short, it conveys pertinent data about all three characters by demonstrating Shola's ability, Conrad's deadly overconfidence, and Polly's resourcefulness and sharpshooting talent.
