Travel Cass Scenic Railroad State Park

In the past, loggers used the Cass Scenic Railroad, now an isolated location in Pocahontas County, as a means of transportation for lumber. Take a picturesque journey in a vintage steam-powered locomotive (run by the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad) to Bald Knob, West Virginia's third-highest point. The round-trip train excursion, which includes lunch and offers sweeping views of the Appalachians, takes around 4.5 hours. Previous visitors advise the two-hour roundtrip to Whittaker Station, a former logging camp, for people traveling to Cass Scenic Railroad State Park with children. Some visitors advise going in the fall to take in the vibrant foliage. Visitors can explore the historic logging town, as well as a gift store, café, museum, and theater, all within Cass Scenic Railroad State Park. There is also overnight cabin accommodation available.
