Tsomgo Lake

The Tsomgo Lake, one of the few high-altitude lakes in India, is perched between the Himalayas at a dizzying elevation of 12400 feet above sea level. It is located on the Gangtok-Nathu La highway. It is on every tourist's agenda for a good reason—the breathtaking natural beauty. It is also known as Changu Lake. The lovely beauty of Tsogmo Lake is sure to awe you as it is encircled by soaring snow-capped mountains and sits amongst a vivid green carpet of alpine trees. The lake is unquestionably a must-see site in Sikkim due to its captivating natural beauty and mythological significance to the locals.

Tsomgo Lake is a glacial lake that derives its water from the melting snow of the mountains around it. This glacial lake is famous for its colour-changing waters. Monsoons see a bright aquamarine lake whereas, in the winters, it freezes into a translucent cover of ice. As the summer approaches in mid-May, the periphery of this lake is dotted with a thousand blossoming flowers that lend the waters a riot of vibrant colors.
