Ubud Monkey Forest

One of the best things to do in Ubud, Bali, is to visit the Monkey Forest, also known as the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary. It's also among Bali's top destinations to visit if you're an animal enthusiast or photographer. From Ubud's town center, a ten-minute stroll will get you here.

The forest is intended to represent the harmonious coexistence between humans and animals. Additionally, it protects endangered flora and serves as a location for studies on the social behavior of macaque monkeys. A big part of the attraction is the evocative jungle setting where the monkeys roam freely, in addition to the troops of grey long-tailed macaques who call this place home. Here, hundreds of monkeys swing through the trees and clamber over the walls.
