United Nations International School
The United Nations International School (UNIS) is a Pre-K to 12th grade, coeducational, International Baccalaureate, college-preparatory day school run by the United Nations. UNIS is a 1,450-student college in Manhattan. UNIS was a founder school of the International Baccalaureate (IB) and was among the first to offer diplomas. The comprehensive Pre K-12 curriculum prepares UNIS students for the IB, and the school's internationally recognized academic standards allow our students to study at top schools and universities in the US and worldwide.
Their students come from 109 different nations and are given far more than a solid foundation in classic and contemporary academic disciplines. The UNIS international education prepares pupils to understand the distinctions among the world's people and to collaborate for the good of humanity.
UNIS defines learning as a process that results in the continuous and demonstrated consolidation or extension of conceptual understanding, competency learning, and character development. These three types of learning capacities constantly interact with one another and form the foundation of our approach to learning throughout the school.
The UNIS curriculum is aligned to Common Core Math Standards, Next Generation Science Standards, NY Next Generation ELA standards, and British Columbia Social Studies Standards and is accredited by the International Baccalaureate, the Council of Independent Schools, and the New York State Association of Independent Schools.
The application for the Manhattan campus for the 2024-25 academic year will be accessible on September 1, 2023, and it will be due on November 15, 2023, together with the other required application materials, and the interview (or assessment) will be held by mid-January 2024.
