Valletta - Malta's Elegant Capital

Valletta is Malta's capital, thanks to the Ottoman Turks' epic defeat during the Great Siege of 1565. The entire town, which is located on a peninsula in the country's eastern region and has a population of roughly 6000 people, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Tourists will find it simple to explore this small city, which is bordered by two harbours: the Grand Harbor and the Marsamxett Harbor. The city's core is Saint John's Co-Cathedral, a 16th-century church built by numerous Orders of the Knights from France, Spain, and Italy. The beautiful interior with its opulent gilded design astounds visitors. The massive Grandmaster's Palace, which was previously the residence of the Knights of Malta, is close by. This palace has magnificent murals and an armoury that depict the knights' military victories.

Valletta is one of the top destinations to visit on the Maltese Islands for travellers interested in culture and historic sites. Valletta, Malta's most modern city, is full of tourist sites and is a good starting point for visitors who want to see the island without renting a car. The island features a well-functioning bus system, with Valletta serving as the hub.
