Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam

The Van Gogh Museum, also on Museumplein, is a must-see for anybody interested in Dutch art. The majority of Van Gogh's oeuvre is on exhibit here, including 200 of his paintings and 500 of his sketches. Sunflowers, Almond Blossom, and The Potato Eaters are among his most recognized works, as are several of his early self-portraits. The permanent collection of the museum also includes significant works by Van Gogh's contemporaries from the nineteenth century, particularly Gauguin, Toulouse-Lautrec, and Monet. Depending on when you go, you might be able to see a temporary exhibition focusing on the same time period. Your Loving Vincent is one such display that allows visitors to examine the artist's greatest letters alongside his masterpieces.

The museum houses the world's biggest collection of Van Gogh's paintings and sketches. In 2017, the museum attracted 2.3 million visitors, making it the most visited museum in the Netherlands and the world's 23rd most visited art museum. The Meet Vincent Van Gogh Experience, a technology-driven "immersive exhibition" on Van Gogh's life and works, debuted in 2019 at the Van Gogh Museum and has since toured internationally.
