Zaans Museum, Zaanse Schans
The Zaans Museum, located in the scenic town of Zaanse Schans, provides an insight into the culture and traditions of the Zaan area over the ages. The museum is a replica of a medieval Dutch hamlet divided into three locations: the Cooperage, the Jasper House, and the Weaver's House surrounded by traditional wooden dwellings and 17th-century windmills. Visitors may see into a restored 1950s fisherman's cottage and a functional windmill to see an artisan at work.
They may also view exhibitions of regional Dutch costumes and participate in artisan projects such as wooden clog carving and barrel construction. The Verkade Experience, located in the heart of the museum, also includes displays on chocolate and biscuit production. Needless to say, there is much to keep you busy throughout your visit to this vibrant museum.
