Yonex
Yonex Co., Ltd. is a Japanese sports equipment company. Yonex manufactures tennis, badminton, golf and running equipment and apparel. The range of products manufactured and sold includes badminton and tennis equipment (racquets, shuttlecocks, balls, bags) and golf equipment (clubs, bags). Yonex also manufactures a wide range of apparel including sneakers and T-shirts, jackets, skirts, shorts, sweatshirts, leggings and hats.
A company founded in 1946 by Minoru Yoneyama as a manufacturer of wooden floats for fishing nets. The company was later kicked out of this market with the invention of the plastic float. With this, Yoneyama vowed never to fall behind in technological advances again.
The parent company was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 1994. Yonex prides itself on being a world leader in golf, tennis and badminton equipment. Yonex supplies clothing to national badminton associations around the world, including the Malaysian Badminton Association, the Scottish Badminton Association, the British Badminton, Irish Badminton, and Wales Badminton. Yonex has also partnered with the Orange County Badminton Club (OCBC) since 2007 to host the annual US Open Badminton Grand Prix.
Yonex became the dominant corporate badminton player. Yonex sponsors the All-Young Badminton Open Championship and is a partner of the World Badminton Federation, which hosts the World Championships. Over 80% of competitors use racquets as their preferred racquet by the pros. Yonex also plays an important role in the tennis and golf industry and is a major sponsor of professional athletes in all three sports.
