  1. BC Highland Games and Scottish Festival takes first place on Best Annual Events in Vancouver. The BC Highland Games and Scottish Festival is an annual event held at Coquitlam's Lafarge Lake Park. The 89th anniversary of Scotland and British Columbia will be held on June 20, 2020. Expect to hear and see a lot of bagpipes and highland dancers. Caber tossing, whiskey tasting, Gaelic singing, Scottish country dancing, and Celtic music are all available. Simply follow the sound of the pipes and look for anyone wearing kilts or tartans.


    ScotFestBC: The United Scottish Cultural Society, an umbrella organization of some of British Columbia's major Scottish cultural groups, proudly presents the British Columbia Highland Games. The Games Organizing Committee is a year-round committee of 35+ volunteer members who work with the BC Pipers' Association, the BC Highland Dancing Association, and the Royal Scottish Country Dancing Association to put on the Games.


    Purchase your tickets in advance and then join the fun at Town Centre Park on Saturday. Travel to the Games by train. There is a free bike valet available. There will be activities for children, food vendors (including vegetarian options), Scottish and other national foods, the opportunity to view British cars, listen to performances on three stages, including the new Heritage Stage, and watch heavy athletes throw large objects all over the Lew Ross Field. Hold on to your seats for the massed pipe bands to descend on the fields around 5:30, followed by the pipers' ceilidh in the big tent with Beolach.

  2. Abbotsford International Airshow ranks 2nd on the list of Best Annual Events in Vancouver. The Abbotsford International Airshow is held annually at Abbotsford International Airport in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada on the second Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of August. It is the largest airshow in Canada. Prime Minister Pierre E. Trudeau designated Abbotsford as Canada's National Airshow in the mid-1970s. It features military and civilian aircraft from Canada and the United States, as well as military aircraft from other countries on occasion. Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Russia, the Netherlands, Brazil, Chile, and Ukraine are among them.


    The Abbotsford Flying Club founded the airshow in 1962. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, the show grew steadily. The 1986 show was held in conjunction with Expo 86, the world's fair in Vancouver. Several European teams, including the Patrouille de France and the Frecce Tricolori, joined the traditional participants, as did the Soviet-Ukrainian Antonov AN-124.

  4. Vancouver International Wine Festival ranks 4th on the list of Best Annual Events in Vancouver. The Vancouver International Wine Festival, Canada's premier food and wine event, serves three purposes: to provide an informative, educational, and entertaining wine experience for the general public and trade; to be a premier marketing opportunity for the wine industry and festival partners; and to raise funds for the Bard on the Beach Theatre Society. The festival is scheduled for April 24-30, 2023.


    VanWineFest is Canada's premier wine event, and it is widely regarded as the best wine event in North America. It is one of the world's largest and oldest wine events, with 25,000 admissions and a history of 43 years. "The Wine World is Here," it proclaims. For the seventh year in a row, New York's BizBash named it the "#1 Food, Wine & Hospitality Event in Canada." Trade Days, which will take place on May 19 and 20, 2022, is one of the festival's ten events.


    The Tasting Room is the heart of the festival, where the general public can sample 750 wines at four International Festival Tastings and industry professionals can sample those plus an additional 160 wines at two Trade Tastings. The tasting room is surrounded by 45 special events (seminars, vintage tastings, winery dinners, lunches, brunches, wine minglers, and more) where 550 other wines are served. The festival in 2020 featured wines from 16 different countries. Every year, a different region or country is highlighted; the featured region has its own section in the tasting room and offers thematic seminars as well as food and wine pairings throughout the week. The festival will honor French wines in 2020.

  5. Vancouver Pride Parade ranks 5th on the list of Best Annual Events in Vancouver. The Vancouver Pride Parade honors the city's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, two-spirited, and queer residents. The next Pride Parade will take place on August 2, 2020, and will travel from Robson Street to Denman Street before finishing on Beach Avenue. There are always a lot of lively costumes and colorful floats, which draw a lot of festival goers from all over Vancouver and beyond.


    The Vancouver Pride Parade and Festival is an annual LGBT Pride celebration held in Vancouver, British Columbia, to honor lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people, as well as their allies. The Vancouver Pride Society (VPS) is in charge of it. The VPS is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization that aims to "produce inclusive, celebratory events and advocacy for LGBTQAI2S+." The Vancouver Pride Parade is Western Canada's largest parade of any kind.


    Because of the COVID-19 pandemic in British Columbia and a BC Provincial Health Officer order limiting mass gatherings to 50 people or less, 2020 Pride in-person events have been moved online. The festival has been dubbed #vanvirtualpride2020 by the Vancouver Pride Society, and it will culminate on August 2 with a virtual parade. A public art exhibition featuring works by local two-spirit, trans, and queer artists was also held.

  6. Honda Celebration of Light ranks 6th on the list of Best Annual Events in Vancouver. The Honda Celebration of Light is the world's longest-running offshore fireworks competition. The Celebration of Light will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2020. The event is as much a celebration of community, music, and food as it is a fireworks display. Tickets are available to view the show from various designated viewing locations, but the fireworks can be seen from pretty much anywhere near English Bay.

  7. Vancouver Folk Music Festival ranks 7th on the list of Best Annual Events in Vancouver. The Vancouver Folk Music Festival (VFMF), founded in 1978, is an outdoor multistage music festival held at Jericho Beach Park on Vancouver's west side. It is held every year on the third weekend of July. Artists from all over the world have attended the festival, including Adam Cohen, Ani Difranco, Utah Phillips, Ricky Pinball, Tuvan throat singers, Sarah Harmer, Veda Hille, Feist, K'naan, and Ferron, among many others.

  8. Every June, the Concord Pacific Dragon Boat Festival takes place on the waters of False Creek. It is the largest dragon boat festival in North America, organized by the Canadian International Dragon Boat Festival Society. It is a competition as well as a celebration of community and culture. Boat racing, headliner music shows, cultural installations, interactive performances, local artisans, food, and family-friendly activities await festivalgoers.


    The continent's largest dragon boat festival will feature much-anticipated international dragon boat races on False Creek, as well as cultural programming at Concord Pacific Place and Creekside Park, including the 102.7 THE PEAK Main Stage. The public festival programming runs from June 25 to June 26, with racer-only events on June 24. In addition, this year's festival will include a significant new addition to its programming, thanks to the support of Concord Pacific and the Province of British Columbia. On Thursday, June 9, an official press conference will be held at Concord Pacific Place to announce the addition.

  9. Bard on the Beach is a Shakespeare Festival held at Vanier Park on Vancouver's waterfront. From June to September, visitors can enjoy Shakespearean plays, dramas, and other special events in one of two performance tents. Throughout the summer, two large-scale productions are staged on the Mainstage Theatre, which is open-ended and has a backdrop of mountains, sea, and sky.


    The Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival is Western Canada's largest not-for-profit professional Shakespeare festival. From June to September, the Festival, held in Vancouver's Senákw/Vanier Park against a spectacular backdrop of mountains, sea, and sky, offers Shakespeare plays, related dramas, and special events in two modern performance tents, with an average attendance of 100,000.

  10. The Peak of Christmas at Grouse Mountain is an annual magical celebration held at Grouse Mountain. You can take your children to Elf Headquarters, where they can make their own Christmas crafts or write letters to Santa. You can take in the incredible light installations or skate on the 8,000 square foot mountaintop Ice Skating Pond. You must see the Theatre in the Sky, where you can watch Christmas movies on a large high-definition screen.


    The Peak of Christmas at Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver features sleigh rides, skating, gingerbread houses, Santa Claus, reindeer, and more. The festivities last season lasted from November 25th, 2021, to January 3rd, 2022. The Festival of Lights at VanDusen Gardens and the Vancouver Christmas Market are two other places to see amazing Christmas-themed holiday lights.
