Abbotsford International Airshow
Abbotsford International Airshow ranks 2nd on the list of Best Annual Events in Vancouver. The Abbotsford International Airshow is held annually at Abbotsford International Airport in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada on the second Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of August. It is the largest airshow in Canada. Prime Minister Pierre E. Trudeau designated Abbotsford as Canada's National Airshow in the mid-1970s. It features military and civilian aircraft from Canada and the United States, as well as military aircraft from other countries on occasion. Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Russia, the Netherlands, Brazil, Chile, and Ukraine are among them.
The Abbotsford Flying Club founded the airshow in 1962. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, the show grew steadily. The 1986 show was held in conjunction with Expo 86, the world's fair in Vancouver. Several European teams, including the Patrouille de France and the Frecce Tricolori, joined the traditional participants, as did the Soviet-Ukrainian Antonov AN-124.
