Atlantic University School of Medicine (AUSOM), which is ranked 2nd on the list of the best universities in Saint Lucia, was an offshore private medical school that was based in St. Lucia from its inception in 2010 until August 2017, and then for 5 months in St. John's, Antigua, and Barbuda until December 2017, when it closed completely. It was part of the St. Lucia National Neurological and Mental Health Wellness Centre, a facility originally built by China to serve as a Caribbean regional psychiatric center and completed by Taiwan after the United Workers Party took power in the 2006 elections; it was the fourth offshore medical school in St. Lucia at the time. Its application was granted by St. Lucia's Cabinet in 2010, but the country does not have legislation in place for licensing and regulating medical schools as of 2014. The college maintained an offshore office in Island Park, New York.

The St. Lucia Medical and Dental Council imposed a deadline for AUSOM to demonstrate proof of accreditation, and as a result, the college relocated to St. John's, Antigua, and Barbuda, in August 2017. Then, under "Sponsor Notes," ECFMG wrote, "In 2017, ECFMG discovered that certain personnel/officials of Atlantic University School of Medicine participated in irregular behavior in connection with supplying misleading information and documents to ECFMG."

The college's last academic term ended in December 2017. According to ECFMG, students who completed their MD by the end of 2017, as well as those who transferred out of AUSOM by the end of 2017 and resumed their medical education with another accredited university in 2018, were eligible to apply for USMLE Steps and ECGMG graduation certification upon completion of medical school at another accredited university. AUSOM's website stayed active for some time after it was closed. Students who had not received their MD by December 2017 were required to transfer to other medical schools to complete their education. Students who graduated with an MD degree before December 2017 were unaffected.

Mildred King established Monroe College in the West Farms neighborhood of the Bronx in 1933 as the Monroe School of Business, a women's business school. Classes at the institution were held in the former Starlight Ballroom. Monroe formally changed from a business school to an accredited junior college in 1972, when it was granted the authority to issue associate degrees (AOS), and the college was renamed Monroe Business Institute. More classrooms were erected on Morris Avenue, and the West Farms facilities were closed in 1977, and all Monroe activities were centralized in the Fordham Road Area. After attaining Middle States Commission on Higher Education Accreditation, the school's name was changed from The Monroe Business Institute to Monroe College in 1990. The college joined the National Junior College Athletic Association the same year.

The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College is located on Morne Fortune, St. Lucia's "Hill of Good Luck," and is one of the island's most historic landmarks. This Hill of Good Luck was the site of numerous fights between British and French forces fighting for St. Lucia. Many of the structures are historic, as they were originally constructed for military purposes.

The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College started as a concept. A solution to the L'Anse Road Teachers College's overpopulation and a reaction to the need for larger and better educational facilities. To make this ambition a reality, a destroyed and barren garrison has to be rebuilt and revived. The idea of developing a complex of tertiary institutions on the remains of a historic military post was officially recognized and the decision was adopted in 1966 to protect for educational reasons specific structures and neighboring grounds on the crest of Morne Fortune (Hill of Good Luck) (Hill of Good Luck).

Five nineteenth-century military buildings were renovated with significant assistance from the British Ministry of Overseas Development to establish the groundwork for the Morne Educational complex. The first committee to study the integration of the Morne Education Complex was appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers in October 1979.

Spartan Health Sciences University was founded on January 7, 1980, in Saint Lucia. The initial campus was in the capital city of Castries. The school was renamed Spartan Health Sciences University and relocated to Vieux Fort in November 1983.

Spartan University began participating in the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) program under Title IV in 1989. They continued to take part until 1997. These loans were obtained by about two-thirds of their student body. Due to a high default rate and inability to produce appropriate paperwork during the US Department of Education examination of financial assistance at the school, the institution was required to repay several hundred thousand dollars back to the program.

After the St. Lucia government uncomfortably denied knowledge of the school's existence, it was briefly delisted from the World Directory of Medical Schools in 1997. Since then, relations between the government and the institution have improved, and several of their alumni now work in the St. Lucia Ministry of Health. In 2012, the school launched a nursing program, and by 2017, it had graduated two cohorts of St. Lucian nurses.

Spartan's MD program is a ten-trimester course of study with three trimesters per calendar year. trimesters 1-5 are completed at the Saint Lucia campus; semesters 6-10 consist of 80 weeks of a clinical study that are performed at teaching hospitals accredited by the university.

Spartan also offers a nursing school. The nursing program was chartered by the St Lucian government and is licensed by the university. It is also accredited by a Monitoring Committee appointed by the Government of St. Lucia to ensure that standards are comparable to those set by the Liaison Committee of Medical Education as required by the US Department of Education. On January 14, 2015, a veterinary medicine school was founded in conjunction with Techmedics Inc.

Destiny University (now College of Medicine and Health Sciences, St. Lucia) was an offshore private medical school located in Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia. Butte, Montana served as the school's offshore office. It was founded in 2001 as the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, St. Lucia, and continued to operate under that name until 2008. Then, in 2013, it reopened as the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, St. Lucia. The Destiny Group of Companies planned to construct a new university facility in Vieux Fort that would be fully operational by 2010. When the school first opened its doors in 2008, it was operating as a "distance learning university" out of the former Sandy Beach Hotel. The school was open until 2013 when it temporarily closed and reopened the following year.

On December 17, 2009, the government of St. Lucia approved the school's operation, and it was accredited by the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP). The school was listed in the FAIMER International Medical Education Directory (IMED) in 2001, as Destiny from 2008 to 2013, as College of Medicine and Health Sciences from 2013 to the present, and in the World Health Organization's World Directory of Medical Schools.
