  1. The University of Dschang is a non-profit public higher education institution located in Dschang, Western Cameroon, approximately 425 km northwest of Yaoundé. It originated from three agricultural training schools and grew from an agricultural institution into a university in 1993.


    The University of Dschang is medium-sized with a capacity of 15,000 students. The education was carried out by 599 teachers and professors. It is recognized by the Ministère de l'Enseignement Supérieur, Cameroon. The University is a member of several organizations and associations, including the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), the Council for the Development of Social Sciences Research in Africa (CODESRIA), and the Council of Higher Education of Africa and Madagascar (CAMES).

  2. The University of Douala is a non-profit public higher education institution in Douala. The university integrated the University Centre (Centre Universitaire established in 1977), which was made up of the Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales (ESSEC established in 1977) and the Ecole Normale d'Enseignement Technique (ENSET established in 1979) and was evolved into a university in 1992.

  3. The University of Buea is situated in Molyko, Buea, in Cameroon's southwest region. It was established as a university center in 1985 and became a full-fledged university in 1992, following a government decision that reorganized the country's state universities.


    It is recognized as Cameroon's best institution, and it is one of two English-speaking universities in the country, along with the University of Bamenda. The University of Buea is a Cameroonian coeducational higher education institution that is officially accredited by the Ministère de l'Enseignement Supérieur, Cameroun (Ministry of Higher Education of Cameroon).

  4. The University of Yaoundé I is a non-profit public higher education institution in the capital of Yaoundé and one of the best universities in Cameroon. The university was established in 1993 after the decision was taken to divide Cameroon's oldest university into two different institutions: the University of Yaoundé 1 and the University of Yaoundé 2.


    The University of Yaoundé I was officially accredited by the Ministère de Enseignement Supérieur, Cameroun (Ministry of Higher Education, Cameroon), is a big coeducational higher education institution with a high enrolment range (10,000-14,999 students).   5. The University of Ngaoundéré is a public university located in Ngaoundéré, Adamawa Region in Cameroon. It was established on 19 January 1993 by Presidential decree. Initially made up of two professional schools and four faculties, the institution today has four professional schools and faculties with about 30,000 students and 400 academic staff.


    The University of Ngaoundéré provides programs and courses that lead to legal higher education degrees in a variety of fields of study.   7. The Catholic University of Central Africa is located in Yaoundé, Cameroon's Central Province. The Association of the Episcopal Conference of the Central African Region founded the university in 1989.

  9. The University of the Mountains, founded in 2000, is a non-profit private higher education institution in Bangangté, West Region. The University of the Mountains, officially accredited by the Ministère de l'Enseignement Supérieur, Cameroun (Ministry of Higher Education of Cameroon), is a small coeducational Cameroonian higher education institution.


    The institution has about 1757 students and 370 academic staff. The school is located in Nanga-Eboko, in Cameroon's central area where the first Adventist mission station and school were founded in 1926 and 1928, respectively. The university is a non-profit private higher education school that was founded in 1996. The university was named after Aime and Madeleine Cosendai, dedicated missionaries who dedicated their lives to the propagation of Christianity and the development of Adventist education in Cameroon.
