    Port Elizabeth

Port Elizabeth is a settlement on the Caribbean island of Bequia, which is part of the Grenadines. It is the parish capital of the Grenadines.

The Grenadines are a group of 30 islands located off the coast of St. Vincent. The closest is Bequia, which is only 14 kilometers (nine miles) from Kingstown and takes an hour to reach by ferry. Port Elizabeth, the island's capital, is located on Admiralty Bay, one of the Caribbean's most attractive harbors. Therefore, this port is one of the most beautiful historical sites in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. With its modest homes, chickens roaming the streets, and a few low-key beachfront taverns and eateries, the small hamlet harkens back to a gentler time in the Caribbean. It's a lovely little town. The Belmont walkway runs along the edge of the port, with beautiful tiny restaurants on one side and a harbor full of gorgeous yachts on the other. You can follow it all the way up and around the cliff to Princess Margaret Beach for some spectacular views.

Enjoy the vibrant colors of Port Elizabeth's environment, which includes turquoise water, boats of all sizes and colors, and waterfront pubs and restaurants. The shore is surrounded by lush green tree-filled hills, where you may sit and watch ferries arrive and go for neighboring islands. Stroll through town, picking up some fresh vegetables or carved wooden handicrafts from the local market, and then travel to one of the many golden sand beaches to enjoy the Caribbean Sea's clear, tranquil waves.

    Fort Charlotte

Fort Charlotte is a fort built during the British colonial period on a hill overlooking Kingstown's harbor. It sits at the top of Edinboro Road, on Berkshire Hill, just west of town, in the parish of Saint Andrew, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It is the primary early 19th century fortress in Saint Vincent, standing at 601 feet above sea level. A panoramic view of the Leeward side of the island, including Kingstown, Young Island, the Caribbean, Bequia, and the Grenadines, can be seen from the fort. Grenada, 90 miles to the south, can be seen on a clear day.

A visit to Fort Charlotte will provide you with insight into Kingstown's past. Surprisingly, this classic Napoleonic-era fort has gun turrets looking inward to the island itself—indeed, the British army was more concerned with the Black Caribs than with a European naval attack. When partnered with French invading forces late in the 18th century, downtrodden descendants of the island's indigenous civilizations and shipwrecked slave escapees wreaked devastation on the island. Ironically, the fort was erected in 1806 with slave labor. Take a guided tour to get the most out of your visit by learning about this turbulent period. Bring a camera to catch the views from the hilltop fortress of Kingstown's harbor and waterfront.

    Fort Duvernette

Fort Duvernette, also known as Rock Fort, was built in the 1790s and towers above Calliaqua Bay and Indian Bay. Its cannons are mounted on a 58-meter (190-foot) volcanic plug that protrudes from the sea on St Vincent's windward side. The fort was designed to safeguard Calliaqua, the colonial center where sugar was loaded into ships destined for English ports.

This creepy fort, perched atop a massive volcanic rock off the coast of Villa, was built to defend the hamlet of Calliaqua and offers amazing 360-degree views of the southern shoreline. The spiral staircase carved into the rock has 225 steps; be careful as it can be slippery, with small stones sometimes carpeting the route so remember to wear appropriate footwear. There are two cannon batteries and a picnic area at the top, which is 200 feet above sea level.

The surrounding is breathtaking with rich vegetation. White sea orchids and sea grass can be found in the water surrounding the fort. You should also keep an eye out for little lizards and bats on the property. Fort Duvernette has a magical quality as a result of all of this.
