  2. Old Portuguese Fort is another one on the list of the most famous historical sites in Mozambique. While there isn't much to see here, it should still be on your to-do list if only to take in the view from the top and inhale the lovely scent of the frangipani trees. It houses a vast collection of cannons from throughout the world, as well as bronze statues of former heroes and art monuments, making it one of Mozambique's oldest historical attractions.   3. The cathedral was built with stones from the ruins of a fort in Sofala (Fort San Gaetano). It is a beautiful work of architectural architecture. Fort San Gaetano was built in the early 16th century (1501) and is believed to be the earliest European construction built in all of southern Africa.   4. The foundation stone for the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, a Roman Catholic cathedral in downtown Maputo, was laid in 1936, and it was finished in 1944. This religious monument in Mozambique was designed by Marcial Simes de Freitas e Costa, a railway director, and Portuguese civil engineer. It is a basic style edifice excellent for finding serenity amidst the bustle of the city. From the women's cabanas to the multitude of commodities on display: vegetables, baskets, and spices, everything is nicely laid up and ready to catch your eye.
