In the UAE, public shows of affection are considered impolite and should be avoided in public places. Before traveling, familiarize yourself with the local norms and legislation, such as traffic safety, pedestrian crossings, not littering in public areas, swearing or violent behavior in public, and so on.

While holding hands is acceptable, do not get too close in public and kissing is not permitted. You won't be arrested, but if you make a lot of people uncomfortable, the officers may issue a warning. Anything more intimate than holding hands in public can get you jailed, and sharing a hotel room with someone of the opposite sex is illegal unless you're married or closely related.

Keep in mind that homosexual sex is illegal and can result in imprisonment, fines, and deportation if you are detected. Book a hotel room with two beds if you're gay and traveling with your boyfriend.

According to officials, the UAE is the safest country on the planet, with 96.1 percent of inhabitants feeling safe enough to walk outside at night. Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, deputy chairman of Police and Public Security, made the announcement at the 12th International Symposium for Police Best Practice in Dubai.

Thus, Dubai is one of the safest cities in the world, with a fantastic nightlife. The metro is well-connected, and there are plenty of taxis available throughout the night. Crime is not anything to be concerned about while visiting this country. Having said that, being aware of your surroundings and using common sense is always beneficial no matter where you are in the world.

But even while pickpocketing is unlikely because the UAE's citizens are mostly foreigners, it does happen because the country receives up to 14 million tourists each year. It's best to be aware of your surroundings at all times, especially when near Jemeirah Beach, which is a recognized pickpocket hotspot.

Tipping customs and expectations fluctuate significantly between large cities and prominent tourist sites. What you do and how much you like your time in the UAE will determine how and who you tip. Most establishments serve alcohol after sunset prayers, but there is no music or celebrations. During this time, you are also required to dress conservatively.

In addition to Ramadan, Muslims worship five times a day, and the eerie, lyrical call to prayer can be heard from mosques nearby. Non-Muslims are not expected to do anything but listen and enjoy. During prayer times, smaller shops may close.

Although the temperature is mild all year, the months of May through September can be very scorching. Fortunately, all malls and indoor locations have air conditioning. Evenings in December and January might be cool, so bring some light warm clothing. Yes, because this is a desert region, the weather is warm even in the winter; in the summer, it's scorching. The hottest months in Dubai are July and August, when the temperature averages around 106 degrees Fahrenheit.

The most pleasant months to visit the UAE are December through February, when temperatures average in the 60s – but this is also the most expensive time of year for flights and hotels. Shoulder seasons, such as May and September, are typically cooler, with numerous bargains still available.
