Alcohol is expensive!

It is not widely available (only hotels are permitted to provide it), and some emirates, such as Sharjah, are completely devoid of it. Although licensed businesses offer alcohol in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, many of them will not let you buy unless you have your own license. Duty-free shops at airports may be your best hope for cheap alcohol.

Alcohol is exclusively sold in specific restaurants, hotels, and nightclubs due to Sharia law. Being under the influence of alcohol in public is unlawful, and intoxicated tourists are frequently arrested. So, if you want to drink, do so in the comfort of your hotel room.

To consume alcohol, residents require a special license. More information can be found in the Crime and Punishment section below. Alcohol is, nonetheless, expensive in the UAE. A bottle of will set you back roughly 58 AED (16 USD). Beer costs around 16 AED (4 USD).
