Tipping
Tipping customs and expectations fluctuate significantly between large cities and prominent tourist sites. What you do and how much you like your time in the UAE will determine how and who you tip. Reading on to find out where a gratuity tip is requested in the UAE to avoid any embarrassing situations while paying restaurant bills or checking out of your accommodation is typically a good start.
Tipping is is not required. A 10-15% tip is regarded good on average, however unlike the US or Canada, no one will question why you didn't tip if you don't! Most restaurants include a service charge in the bill; if they don't, simply add 10% to the total. Because the 10% is distributed among all employees, not just wait staff, tip a little more if the wait staff was exceptionally good. Taxi drivers do not expect to be tipped, but if you do, they will be grateful. (A 5 dh tip is appropriate, or round up to the nearest 5.) Bag carriers are commonly tipped 2 dh at hotels.
