18th Century Boateng Saber
The 18th Century Boateng Saber actually sold twice, first for $5.93 million, and again for $7.7 million. This most medieval expensive weapon ever is a second weapon with inscriptions and decorations alluding to the Chinese Emperor Qianlong. It is an S-shaped sword. The steel blade is decorated with gold, silver, and inlaid bronze, with one side showing a poetic two-material name: "Bao teng", or "appreciate". The work was carried out in the palace workshops of the Imperial Household Bureau and was representative of the Mid-Qing dynasty. A product of 90 Sabers has been in the making for over 47 years and the value of the weapon is due to both its aesthetic and historical value.
The 18th Century Boateng Saber was crafted in the Palace of the Ministry of Imperial Households in the Qing Dynasty and showcases the aesthetics of that period well. It has a steel blade decorated with gold, silver, and inlaid bronze. The title of this most medieval expensive weapon ever means "excellently precious" in Chinese. The S-shaped blade features a white jade handle with ornate leaves. The value of this most expensive sword made it the most expensive medieval weapon ever sold.
