Ada Medjica
Ada Meica is a city island and a district of Belgrade, Serbia's capital. It's in the Novi Beograd municipality of Belgrade. Ada Meica is a river island in the Sava River that is 1.5 kilometers long and 200 meters broad, with a total area of 13.4 hectares (33 acres). It is located approximately north of the Ada Ciganlija, which is much larger. With its beautiful landscape, it is considered as one of the most beautiful islands in Serbia
The island is wooded with 250 wildly grown oak trees, the most of which date from the 1920s and are between 50 and 100 years old. Between 2015 and 2017, 2,500 peduncle oak and ash seedlings were planted across the island. The woodland used to be a haven for sparrows, mallards, and pigeons, but by the 2010s, the expanding population of crows had nearly wiped them out. The island is home to two big flocks of wild geese, which are a popular tourist attraction. Blue tits, woodpeckers, pheasants, collared doves, herons, jays, and hen harriers are among the island's other birds.
Although Ada Meica has no permanent residents, it does have 87 weekend stilt houses and 202 houseboats owned by Belgrade residents. The stilt house or houseboat can be up to 25 m2 in size (270 sq ft). Solar panels provide the necessary electricity. Water was piped in from the Sava riverbed, and a five-tap mini-waterworks was constructed on the island. Over 2,000 Belgrad residents spend weekends on Ada Meica, which is only accessible by small boats, including the seasonal boat line from Block 44, during the summer. Because the area is practically untouched and devoid of touristic facilities, swimming, walking, and barbecuing are popular pastimes. Only the island's eastern, upstream tip is concreted to prevent erosion.
