Island of Krcedin
The Kredin Island, also known as Kredinska Ada, is a river island in Serbia. It's in the municipality of Inija, Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, on the left side of the Danube, across from the settlement of Kredin. The uninhabited island is part of the "Koviljsko-Petrovaradinski Rit" Special Natural Reserve. It's one of the Podunavlje's greatest remaining natural pastures, noted for traditional cattle breeding with only minor human intervention. Fresh water and grass abound on the island. It is also wooded, primarily by willows, some of which date back to the 1810s.
Common carp, northern pike, Prussian carp, and sterlet reproduce in abundance in the arm that connects the island to the mainland. The island of Kredin is home to one of Europe's major breeding grounds for common carp. Storks, herons, mallards, and cormorants are among the island's residents. There are 172 bird species on the island, with 103 of them being classified as uncommon. White-tailed eagle, great white heron, black stork, Eurasian eagle-owl, and saker falcon are among them.
The Dunavac partially dries up during the hot summers and low water levels, making the island accessible by bicycle. Wild creatures such as deer, jackals, and wild boars cross the natural bridge to access the island, albeit infrequently.
The Kredin Island is part of the Koviljsko-Petrovaradinski Rit Special Natural Reserve, a wetland along the Danube. From May to September, the municipality arranges photo safari-style visits to the island. They are designed as one-day outings for small groups of visitors.
