Airport of Amsterdam Schiphol, sometimes known colloquially as Schiphol Airport, is the Netherlands' primary international airport. It lies 9 kilometers southwest of Amsterdam, in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, in the province of North Holland. With about 72 million passengers in 2019, it is Europe's third busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic and Europe's busiest airport in terms of aircraft movements. It is Europe's fourth busiest airport, with an annual cargo tonnage of 1.74 million. AMS has a total land area of 6,887 acres. The airport is designed as a single-terminal structure, with one huge terminal divided into three enormous departure halls.
