Antwerp (Belgium)

Antwerp Port is the port of the city of Antwerp. It is located mainly in Flanders (Belgium), in the province of Antwerp, but partly also in the province of East Flanders. A port in the heart of Europe, accessible by ships up to the headland. Noticeably, the port of Antwerp has become one of the largest ports in Europe, second only to Rotterdam in terms of total freight transport. The international rating is 11th to 20th (AAPA). In 2012, the Port of Antwerp handled 14,220 marine merchant vessels (190.8 million tons of cargo, 53.6% of containers), 57,044 inland barges (123.2 million tons of cargo) and provided liner services on 800 routes.

Of all ports in Europe, Antwerp's port is the furthest inland. Its geographic location provides quick and inexpensive access to the interior of Europe. The constantly growing and developing port has doubled the amount of cargo loaded or discharged to over 235 million tonnes over the past 20 years.
