Hamburg (Germany)

The Port of Hamburg is a port on the Elbe River in Hamburg, Germany, 110 km (68 miles) from the mouth of the North Sea. Also, it is Germany's largest port known as the 'gateway to the world'. In terms of TEU traffic, Hamburg is the third busiest port in Europe (after Rotterdam and Antwerp) and the 15th largest port in the world. In 2014, Hamburg processed 9.73 million TEUs (20-foot standard container equivalent).

Founded in 1189, the Port of Hamburg is a multi-purpose port. Our state-of-the-art facilities handle containers as well as heavy and general cargo and other transport projects. The Container Terminal Altenwerder (CTA) is a modern logistics facility that is unmatched in Europe. Increased transshipment has benefited from stable growth in recent years. It may not be the largest port in Europe, but it may be the most technologically advanced.
