Atagawa
Atagawa’s location is just a bit further south of IOP (Izu Ocean Park or Izu Kaiyo Koen), on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula, Japan. The literal meaning of ‘Atagawa’ is a hot river and this place makes one of the top most beautiful scuba dive sites in Japan . This diving spot is resting on the east coast of Izu and boasts some pinnacles which are covered by beautiful soft coral. This Onsen (hot water spring) offers a unique experience of enjoying the best time amidst the tropical beauty. This is also one of the reasons why a lot of tourists and local people give this dive site a special love. It is because divers can both soak in the hot water and enjoy the beautiful “marine” scenery of this diving site, especially for those who are in need of a break or rest, reducing stress after the pressure, this place is paradise. With the depth ranging from 10 to 40 m, Atagawa hosts a quite rich diversity of marine and coral creatures.
The dive site of Atagawa is an interesting mix of rocky reefs, soft corals and sand patches with rich marine fauna including lionfish, anemone fish, flying gurnards and nudibranchs. Thumbs up to the incredible hospitality of Kazasan at the PONO Cafe, for plenty of Aloha spirit in Japan!
