IOP (Izu Ocean Park / Izu Kaiyo Koen)
The following name that is impossible not to mention in the top of the most beautiful dive sites in Japan is the Izu Ocean Park. The Izu Ocean Park is south of the Jogasaki Coast, a famous walking trail of the Izu Peninsula. It is by far the most popular shore dive site in Japan. Due to the waves, the entry from the beach can sometimes be sporty, so it is essential to hold the rope tight.
There is first a shallow part where tourists can find many sea anemones and dam-selfish. Then by following the line, there are two possible itineraries: the IOP underwater post box or the wall. The latter is, of course, going deeper and deeper until a sandy bottom at 40 m. Featuring beautiful pink and purple soft corals, there is always a lot of fish action at the IOP wall with stingrays, flounders, bump head wrasse, butterfly-fish and dragon moray eels.
