Bactericidal and beneficial to oral health
There are several quick fixes for unpleasant breath, such as mints, chewing gum, and cleaning your teeth (and scrubbing your tongue). However, drinking green tea may also provide another solution for fresh breath. Subjects who used green tea as a sort of mouthwash showed considerable improvement in foul breath in a research done by Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences.
Catechins in green tea provide considerable oral health advantages as well. Catechins have been shown in test tubes to inhibit the growth of plaque-forming bacteria, which is the biggest reason for foul breath and tooth decay. However, excessive tea consumption might interfere with iron absorption due to tannins and cause tooth discoloration when they collect on tooth enamel.
