Balchik
Balchik is one of the most beautiful coastal towns in Bulgaria. Balchik is a Black Sea coastal town and seaside resort in northeastern Bulgaria's Southern Dobruja region. It is located in Dobrich Province, 35 kilometers southeast of Dobrich and 42 kilometers northeast of Varna. It sprawls scenically along hilly terraces descending from the Dobruja plateau to the sea and is known colloquially as "The White City" due to its white hills. The average temperature in July is 22 degrees Celsius, and the seawater temperature reaches 24 degrees Celsius during the summer. Krunes, a Greek settler, founded the town 26 centuries ago. Dionisiopolis was named after the Greek God of wine and joy, Dionysus, in the sixth century BC.
In addition to enjoying a summer vacation by the sea, visitors to Bulgaria's seaside city Balchik can visit the Botanical Gardens, which contain over 600 species of flora. The terraced Botanical Gardens also include Sveta Bogoroditsa's small chapel, a greenhouse with huge, impressive cacti, a waterfall, and an old wooden mill. Visiting Queen Marie's Summer Palace, located within the labyrinth-like gardens, is one of the top things to do in Balchik. You can also sample Bulgarian sweets, grapes, and various fruit wines at the Queen's Winery House, which is also located within the Botanical Gardens.
