Sinemorets

Sinemorets is a village on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast in the far southeast, close to the Turkish border. The village is located directly on the sea, next to the beautiful Veleka River. Ahtopol, a seaside resort, is 6 kilometers north of Sinemorets, and Rezovo is 11 kilometers south. Sinemorets is a popular vacation spot due to its pristine natural beauty and excellent beaches. It is close to the Strandzha Nature Reserve, a cool retreat on hot summer days with numerous trails leading to natural and historical sites.

The village has two beaches: Bytamyata Beach and the beach at the Veleka River's mouth. Silistar, one of Bulgaria's most beautiful beaches, is also nearby. Water sports enthusiasts can rent a "banana boat" (a large, banana-shaped float pulled by a speed boat) and jet skis. For those who prefer a more natural excursion, horses and ponies can be rented, as well as boat trips up the Veleka. There are a number of trails in the Strandzha reserve that lead to interesting places for hikers and bicyclists.

The villages in the Strandzha near Sinemorets have preserved centuries-old traditions that they are proud to share with visitors. The Nestinarka - a ritual dance performed on live coals that takes place on May 21, on the annual celebration in honor of Saints Constantine and Elena - is one such worldwide tradition. During the summer, Nestinarka fire dances are also organized for tourists. The Strandzha villages of Gramatikovo, Kosti, Bulgari, and Mladezhko have become popular tourist destinations. The Veleka River is well-stocked and draws a large number of anglers. Because fish from the Black Sea migrate up the river in search of food, it is possible to catch both freshwater and saltwater fish at the river's mouth.
