Berlengas Natural Reserve
The Berlenga Nature Reserve ranks 1st on the list of the best dive sites in Portugal. It is an archipelago made up of the Berlenga Island and the Farilhoes-Forcadas and Estela's reefs that surround it. The dive sites in these locations have great visibility and provide dives for divers of all skill levels. Huge schools of Sea Bream and the gentle giants, Ocean Sunfish, may be found at these locations. There are a number of stunning wrecks to investigate, notably Furado Grande, in addition to the incredible marine life. This wildlife reserve is not to be missed if you're planning a vacation to Portugal.
If you want to try cave diving, you have another good reason to visit the Berlengas. In the Berlenga Nature Reserve, you will spot plenty of red gorgonians. The sandy bottoms and walls, on the other hand, are full of colorful anemones. Between May and October, there is daily maritime transport from Peniche. If this timetable does not suit you, or you would like to visit the islands during a different period of the year, there are small boats that can take you there, subject to seafaring conditions.
