Big Rock Falls
Big Rock Falls is a hidden gem on the Privassion River in the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve in the Cayo District. Big Rock Falls is a gorgeous 150-foot waterfall on the Privassion River and is among the largest falls in Belize. It is surrounded by lush greenery and drops into a small pool at its base, which flows over large rocks into a bigger cenote. Due to the rock over which the falls flow, the water is tapered into a V-shape, giving the falls a truly unique look. Though the surrounding rocks may look climbable, be careful; they can be slippery. The pool below is easily accessible and a great place for a family swim and picnic.
Although the waterfall is a great place to swim or catch some rays, it is rarely crowded, so there is a good chance you will have it to yourself. The waterfall is easily accessible along a well-maintained trail that snakes into the valley and down wooden stairs to the foot of the falls. To escape the tropical heat, jump into the cool water. Alternatively, locate a location close to the rocky cliffs and let the waterfall pound your back the way nature intended.
A rush of exhilaration is produced by the magnificent sight of water gushing over the enormous 150-ft rock formations and tumbling into the deep, perfectly circular pool at its base. A visit to this magnificent spot is one of the highlights of any trip to the mountain Pine Ridge area.
