Birla Industrial & Technological Museum
Birla Industrial and Technological Museum (BITM), India's first scientific and industrial museum, is located on Gurusaday Road and is one of Kolkata's top attractions. The museum first opened its doors to the general public on May 2, 1959. It was originally named Birla Park and was transformed into a museum three years after it opened. The museum's palatial building has made it a popular tourist destination known for its galleries and 3D presentations held on the site.
Under the inspiration of Dr. B.C. Roy believed that a rising country like India needs museums in its proximity in 1956, Birla Park was turned into BITM. As a result, G.D. Birla gave the site to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to establish the museum, which took nearly three years to build. The Mobile Science Display, which was the first exhibition on wheels, was also created by BITM. This museum is currently the site where science presents itself through interactive and animated models, thanks to its galleries, diversified programs, and increasing chain of satellite centers. It's an incredible location that all science enthusiasts should see!
