National Museum, New Delhi
One of India's largest museums is the National Museum in New Delhi, commonly known as the National Museum of India. It was founded in 1949 and has a diverse collection of items spanning from prehistoric to current works of art. It is managed by the Indian government's Ministry of Culture. Janpath is where the museum is located. The National Museum's blueprint was created by the Gwyer Committee, which was established by the Indian government in 1946. The museum has about 200,000 items of art, largely from India but also from other countries, spanning over 5,000 years.
On the first floor, the National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation, and Museology, which was founded in 1983 and has been a university since 1989, offers Master's and Doctoral level art history, conservation, and museology courses.
